#2 of 2 hotels in Dun Laoghaire by Axel's take. Dun Laoghaire is #10 of 11 places to stay in Dublin. The best hotels in Dun Laoghaire, ranked · Where to stay in Dublin

Axel's take: 8.5/10

Excellent shared facilities and a seaside location, but the studios demand compromise. a modern co-living aparthotel with compact private studios by the harbour, scored for what it is.

Niche Living is a modern co-living aparthotel, not a conventional four-star hotel. It’s a strong pick for independent travelers who want self-catering near Dún Laoghaire’s harbour and DART station. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while Tripadvisor guests highlight the gym, cinema and rooftop terrace. Kitchenettes and generous communal spaces make the compact studios more practical than their size suggests.

The compromises are mostly inside your room: limited space, foldaway beds that divide opinion, and a toilet-and-shower layout several guests find lacking in privacy. Warm rooms also recur in reviews, and Expedia lists weekly rather than daily housekeeping. We’d choose it for a solo coastal base; couples wanting room to spread out, or anyone expecting full-service hotel comforts, should look elsewhere.

  • Best for: independent solo travelers; self-catering coastal breaks; guests who enjoy communal facilities

  • Watch out for: compact studios and mixed foldaway-bed comfort; limited bathroom privacy; warm rooms and weekly housekeeping

  • Location: Close to the harbour, restaurants and DART station; outside central Dublin.

  • Rooms: Efficient studios with kitchenettes; space, bed comfort and bathroom privacy are the main compromises.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength: Booking.com scores cleanliness 9.2 and Expedia 9.6.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff earn repeated praise; the desk operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Gym, cinema, shared kitchens, coworking areas and roof terraces complement the private studios.

  • Fees and surprises: No on-site parking; Expedia lists weekly housekeeping and an adults-only policy.
