Axel's take: 8.4/10

A comfortable sightseeing base with helpful staff, rather than four-star indulgence. a modern, mid-range 4-star beside St. Patrick’s Cathedral, scored for what it is.

Maldron Kevin Street is a modern, mid-range 4-star beside St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and a strong pick for exploring Dublin on foot. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, helpful staff and a generous breakfast; Booking.com’s ratings also support its strengths in cleanliness and comfort. We’d choose it for a straightforward city break rather than a hotel-led getaway.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: Temple Bar is around a 15-minute walk, underground parking costs extra and spaces cannot be guaranteed. Room reports are broadly positive, though some guests flag tired bathroom finishes or temperamental cooling. Breakfast is not included in every booking. We’d skip it if you want distinctive luxury or nightlife immediately outside, but it delivers well as a comfortable sightseeing base.

• Best for: couples exploring Dublin on foot; first-time Dublin visitors; families wanting proper beds

• Watch out for: limited, first-come paid parking; occasional bathroom upkeep and cooling complaints; breakfast inclusion varies by booking

• Location: Beside St. Patrick’s Cathedral; roughly 12 minutes to St. Stephen’s Green and 15 to Temple Bar.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, climate control and family options; some guests report bathroom wear or cooling issues.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and frequent praise outweigh a minority of bathroom-cleanliness complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a consistent strength across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Grain & Grill restaurant and bar, buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi and complimentary luggage storage.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged and cannot be reserved; breakfast and late checkout may cost extra.
