Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong sightseeing base with refreshed rooms and consistently praised staff. a refurbished, mid-range 4-star opposite Christ Church Cathedral, scored for what it is.

Leonardo Christchurch is a practical, mid-range 4-star whose biggest asset is its location: opposite the cathedral, with Dublin Castle and Temple Bar easily reached on foot. We'd pick it for a sightseeing break rather than a hotel-centered holiday. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. Breakfast also gets consistently good feedback.

The refurbishment was announced complete in September 2026, covering every bedroom and the main public spaces, with air-conditioning installed throughout. That makes older renovation complaints less relevant now. The remaining trade-offs are more ordinary: some guests find rooms compact or simply equipped, and parking is paid in a neighboring public garage. We'd skip it if you want spacious luxury; for exploring Dublin, it's a dependable choice.

• Best for: first-time Dublin sightseers; couples on a city break; families wanting a walkable base

• Watch out for: some rooms feel compact; standard rooms have fairly simple amenities; paid public parking rather than a hotel car park

• Location: Opposite Christ Church Cathedral, within easy walking distance of Dublin Castle and Temple Bar.

• Rooms: Refurbished bedrooms with air-conditioning; guests praise bed comfort, though some want more space or storage.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are repeatedly praised; luggage storage is useful around arrival and departure.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi and family rooms; geared toward city breaks rather than resort-style facilities.

• Fees and surprises: No hotel-owned parking: use nearby Q-Park Christchurch; the hotel's parking arrangement requires advance online booking.
