#7 of 9 hotels in Grafton Street & St Stephen's Green by Axel's take. Grafton Street & St Stephen's Green is #1 of 11 places to stay in Dublin. The best hotels in Grafton Street & St Stephen's Green, ranked · Where to stay in Dublin

Axel's take: 8.4/10

Strong service and city-centre comfort, but choose your room carefully for sleep. a stylish independent 4-star on Dublin’s lively Harcourt Street, scored for what it is.

Iveagh Garden Hotel is a stylish independent 4-star near St Stephen’s Green, with Grafton Street and the Luas close by. It’s a strong pick for a Dublin city break: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and breakfast. Elle’s Bar & Bistro gives it a useful dining option beyond the surrounding pubs and restaurants.

The important trade-off is sleep. Nightclubs opposite, passing trams and occasional hotel events generate recurring noise complaints, especially in street-facing rooms. The separate townhouse accommodation also draws criticism for room size, steps and temperature control. We’d request a higher-floor room in the main building, away from Harcourt Street and event spaces, and confirm the cooling arrangements. Light sleepers wanting reliably quiet nights should look elsewhere.

  • Best for: couples on a city break; sightseers exploring without a car; travelers enjoying Dublin nightlife

  • Watch out for: nightclub, tram and event noise; townhouse rooms differ from the main hotel; confirm room cooling before booking

  • Location: Walkable for St Stephen’s Green and Grafton Street, with convenient Luas access but lively nightlife outside.

  • Rooms: Main-hotel rooms generally earn comfort praise; townhouse layouts, access and cooling need checking.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

  • Service: Friendly reception and helpful concierge staff are among the most frequently praised features.

  • Amenities: Elle’s Bar & Bistro, terrace and free Wi-Fi; fitness access is through a nearby paid health-club partnership.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking is off-site, and health-club access costs extra.
