#3 of 9 hotels in O'Connell Street & Gardiner Street by Axel's take. O'Connell Street & Gardiner Street is #4 of 11 places to stay in Dublin. The best hotels in O'Connell Street & Gardiner Street, ranked · Where to stay in Dublin

Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong central base with standout staff and breakfast included. a straightforward 3-star city-centre hotel on O’Connell Street, scored for what it is.

This straightforward 3-star on O’Connell Street is a strong pick for a Dublin break without full-service extras. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and convenient location; recent reviews remain reassuringly positive. Comfortable beds, included hot breakfast and nearby buses and trams make it particularly practical for travelers spending most of their time exploring rather than in the hotel.

The trade-offs are mostly about expectations: there’s no pool or gym, and parking is in a separate paid garage. Breakfast earns plenty of praise, though some recent guests find the hot food lukewarm or repetitive. Many describe quiet rooms, but others report late-night music or machinery noise in particular rooms. We’d choose it for dependable basics and convenience, not spacious luxury or a retreat from city life.

  • Best for: first-time Dublin visitors; car-free city breaks; travelers prioritizing clean, practical comfort

  • Watch out for: noise varies by room; paid off-site parking; no pool or gym

  • Location: Central O’Connell Street base with shopping, sights, buses and Luas services within easy reach.

  • Rooms: Simple, air-conditioned rooms; comfort is widely praised, but some rooms receive nighttime noise.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com guest feedback.

  • Service: Helpful reception, breakfast and door staff repeatedly earn enthusiastic praise.

  • Amenities: Included hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi and a bar/café; no pool or gym.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra at nearby Q-Park The Spire; validate the ticket at reception for the guest rate.
