Axel's take: 8.6/10

Buswells delivers warm service and a superb location, with some old-building compromises. a traditional 3-star in Dublin’s Georgian city centre, scored for what it is.

Buswells is a traditional 3-star spread across Georgian townhouses, and a strong pick for exploring Dublin on foot. Grafton Street, St Stephen’s Green and major museums are close by, while the lounges and bar give it more character than a basic city hotel. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and cleanliness; recent reviews make the personal service its clearest strength.

The trade-off is uneven room size and condition: some guests find bedrooms small or tired despite the handsome public spaces. Crucially, the hotel confirms there is no air-conditioning, and lift access does not cover every room. Breakfast is well liked but isn’t included in every booking; parking is paid and off-site. We’d choose it for traditional atmosphere and sightseeing convenience, but skip it if cooling, contemporary rooms or straightforward step-free access are essential.

• Best for: first-time Dublin sightseers; travelers who enjoy traditional hotels; car-free city breaks

• Watch out for: no air-conditioning; some small or dated bedrooms; lift access does not reach every room

• Location: Central Molesworth Street setting near museums, Grafton Street and St Stephen’s Green.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and traditional decor; size and condition vary, with no air-conditioning.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across Booking.com and Expedia; cleanliness is a consistent positive.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across recent independent reviews.

• Amenities: Traditional bar, restaurant breakfast, lounges, free Wi-Fi and room service.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast depends on the booking; parking is paid and off-site, and lift access is partial.
