Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Gulshan business base, with better hospitality than its aging rooms suggest. an established five-star business hotel in Gulshan 2, scored for what it is.

The Westin Dhaka is an established five-star business hotel in Gulshan 2, and we'd choose it for attentive hospitality and practical comfort rather than fresh design. Recent guests across Tripadvisor and Expedia praise helpful staff, while spacious rooms, comfortable beds and generally strong cleanliness make it a dependable work-trip base. Breakfast earns frequent praise, and Marriott confirms an outdoor heated pool, gym and spa.

The main compromise is age: room-condition complaints recur across sites, so don't expect consistently modern luxury. Service is usually a strength, but some recent guests describe distracted staff or a busy atmosphere. We'd skip it if contemporary interiors and an intimate, quiet setting matter most; it's a stronger fit for travelers prioritizing Gulshan meetings, full facilities and experienced hospitality.

• Best for: business travelers with Gulshan meetings; travelers wanting full-service facilities; guests who prioritize helpful staff

• Watch out for: dated rooms and furnishings; occasional service lapses; busy atmosphere

• Location: Gulshan 2 puts business offices, restaurants and shops close by.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable, but recurring feedback points to aging interiors.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and recent praise outweigh isolated housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Frequently praised for helpfulness, with occasional check-in and attentiveness lapses.

• Amenities: Outdoor heated pool, gym, spa, multiple dining venues and an executive lounge.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; confirm breakfast, lounge and in-room Wi-Fi inclusions.
