Axel's take: 8.0/10

A good-value Dhaka base with clean rooms, helpful staff and an awkward approach. a modest independent 3-star city hotel in Kawran Bazar, scored for what it is.

Studio23 is a modest independent 3-star city hotel, and we'd shortlist it for a practical, good-value Dhaka stay. Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, helpful staff and the restaurant. Air-conditioned rooms have work desks and tea-making facilities; breakfast and free parking add useful everyday value. Expect comfortable basics rather than the luxury promised by the hotel's marketing.

The main compromise is the approach: guests describe a narrow lane and difficulty spotting the hotel from the main road. Booking.com's much larger review sample is also less enthusiastic overall than Expedia's small one. Wheelchair users should not rely on accessibility labels: a January 2026 guest reported an excessively steep entrance ramp and unsuitable room arrangements. We'd skip it if dependable step-free access or an easy-to-find main-road address is essential.

• Best for: business travelers visiting Kawran Bazar; value-minded city visitors; travelers who appreciate on-site dining

• Watch out for: narrow, hard-to-find approach; wheelchair accessibility specifically challenged by a recent guest; airport transfers cost extra

• Location: Kawran Bazar base with shops and restaurants nearby; guests repeatedly flag difficulty finding the entrance.

• Rooms: Practical air-conditioned rooms with desks and tea-making facilities; official categories vary noticeably in size.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor accounts.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff attract repeated praise, though individual problem-handling experiences vary.

• Amenities: Restaurant, café, breakfast, free Wi-Fi and free parking cover the practical essentials.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers are charged separately; confirm arrival arrangements and any accessibility requirements directly.
