Axel's take: 8.3/10

Helpful staff and comfortable rooms make this a strong pick, provided you can handle traffic. an independent 4-star city hotel in central Dhaka, scored for what it is.

Sky City is an independent 4-star in central Dhaka that earns its recommendation through service rather than luxury polish. Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, while clean, generously sized rooms and a well-liked breakfast strengthen the case. The pool and gym are useful extras. We'd choose it for a comfortable city base with staff who help smooth out travel logistics.

The main compromise is the busy setting: street noise recurs across reviews, and congestion can make journeys frustrating. Some guests find the rooms dated, although recent feedback is predominantly positive about comfort and cleanliness. Request a room away from the road, and confirm airport arrangements: the hotel advertises complimentary pickup with advance confirmation, not a free return transfer. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or polished luxury stay.

• Best for: business travelers needing central Dhaka; first-time visitors who appreciate hands-on help; travelers wanting a pool and gym

• Watch out for: street noise in road-facing rooms; heavy traffic around the hotel; airport drop-off is not included in the pickup offer

• Location: Central Shiddeshwari setting; useful for city visits, but congestion and road noise are recurring drawbacks.

• Rooms: Guests generally praise room size and comfort; some describe dated decor.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive across sites, with occasional lapses rather than a consistent negative pattern.

• Service: Helpful reception staff and airport assistance are the clearest recurring strengths.

• Amenities: Pool, gym, spa facilities and restaurants; breakfast attracts frequent praise.

• Fees and surprises: Complimentary airport pickup requires advance confirmation; check return-transfer charges separately.
