Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Banani base for comfortable rooms and helpful service, rather than full-scale luxury. a compact, independent mid-range business hotel in Banani, scored for what it is.

Pearl is a compact, independent mid-range business hotel in Banani, and we'd choose it for practical comfort rather than its luxury branding. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Breakfast also earns plenty of compliments, while nearby restaurants and shops make the location useful for a short Dhaka stay.

The main compromise is space: the hotel's smallest queen rooms are just 160 square feet. Smoking floors also make confirming a non-smoking room worthwhile; one recent Expedia guest reported an unwanted smoking-room assignment and difficult check-in. Most service feedback is positive, but booking and billing complaints appear on more than one site. It's a strong pick for a short business visit; we'd skip it if generous rooms and consistently polished luxury service are priorities.

• Best for: business travelers visiting Banani; short stays near restaurants and shops; travelers preferring a smaller independent hotel

• Watch out for: compact entry-level queen rooms; smoking floors; confirm your room assignment; occasional booking and billing disputes

• Location: Banani location earns strong guest ratings, with restaurants and shopping nearby.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise; published room sizes range from compact queens to larger junior suites.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across sources, although a few recent guests report housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength, tempered by occasional reception and reservation problems.

• Amenities: The official site lists restaurants, a café, gym, spa and business facilities; breakfast is generally well received.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm airport-transfer charges and room category in writing; check minibar items and the final bill.
