Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong business base where welcoming staff outshine occasionally tired rooms. a small, independent 4-star business hotel in Baridhara’s diplomatic zone, scored for what it is.

Ascott Palace is a small, independent 4-star business hotel in Baridhara’s diplomatic zone, and it’s a strong pick for travelers who prefer a quieter base. Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable rooms and the peaceful surroundings. The rooftop Japanese restaurant and lobby coffee shop make evenings between meetings easier, and recent feedback is largely positive about cleanliness and breakfast.

The trade-off is polish: some guests describe dated fittings, and occasional reports flag bathroom maintenance or noisy air-conditioning. These are exceptions rather than the dominant story, but worth checking when you arrive. Expedia also lists breakfast and airport transfers as chargeable extras, so confirm your inclusions. We’d choose it for business or embassy visits, not for a sleek luxury stay.

• Best for: business travelers; embassy and diplomatic visits; travelers seeking a quieter base

• Watch out for: some dated room fittings; occasional bathroom or air-conditioning issues; breakfast and transfer inclusions vary

• Location: Quiet Baridhara diplomatic-zone setting, particularly practical for embassy visits.

• Rooms: Often praised for space and comfort; some guests report aging fittings or maintenance issues.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, though Expedia’s cleanliness picture is less consistently strong.

• Service: Welcoming reception, housekeeping and restaurant teams are the clearest recurring strength.

• Amenities: Japanese and international dining, a lobby coffee shop, gym and meeting facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists breakfast, airport transfers and early or late check-in/out as potential extras.
