Axel's take on Antea & Jurica: #7 of 7 in Queretaro, 4.1/10
Good for shopping and suburban downtime; weak for a sightseeing-first stay. Good hotels and suburban downtime cannot offset the weakest sightseeing access, limited doorstep choice and only modest hotel value.
Antea and Jurica offer two related but different experiences: a major shopping destination beside the highway, and a more residential retreat within Jurica. Choose this part of town for shopping-led days, northern appointments or a family stay that values downtime over constant sightseeing. Do not assume a highway-facing address shares Jurica's quieter character.
The historic core is a separate outing, not somewhere you will casually wander after breakfast. Buses exist, but a car or planned taxi journeys make this stay substantially easier. Skip it for a short first visit without a vehicle; choose it deliberately when the northern location is the point.
- Best for: families, luxury travelers, a quiet stay, shopping
- Skip it if: You want daily old-town walks; You dislike planning transport for most outings
- Getting around: T08 serves the Antea–highway corridor, but Jurica addresses can require a feeder trip; walking is mainly within the shopping complex or local streets; from QRO an authorized taxi is the simplest option.
- After dark: Antea evenings revolve around shopping and dinner; Jurica is the quieter residential option, so arrange transport rather than expecting one continuous walkable district.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $98 a night
Where to stay in Queretaro: every neighborhood ranked
Where to look in Antea & Jurica
- Avenida Antea. Start here for shopping-led days and restaurant evenings; the highway approaches make it a separate outing from downtown. Hotels here: AC Hotel Queretaro Antea, Ramada Encore by Wyndham Queretaro, Holiday Inn Queretaro Zona Krystal by IHG, Staybridge Suites Queretaro by IHG.
- Paseo Jurica. Choose the residential side for downtime rather than assuming every highway-side address delivers the same quieter setting. Hotels here: Hacienda Jurica by Brisas.
- Paseo de la República–Junípero Serra. A shopping-and-road junction for northern appointments; suits planned journeys rather than a stay built around casual downtown walks. Hotels here: Fairfield Inn & Suites Queretaro Juriquilla, Four Points By Sheraton Queretaro Norte.
How to choose
- Choose Ramada Encore by Wyndham Queretaro if you want a balanced Antea business base with included breakfast and covered parking; confirm the indoor pool is operating.
- Choose Hacienda Jurica by Brisas if you will spend substantial time enjoying gardens, family pools, tennis and hacienda character.
- Choose City Express Suites by Marriott Querétaro if you need kitchen facilities and living space for a longer stay rather than a standard hotel bedroom.
What paying more buys
Ramada Encore and City Express Suites sit around the neighborhood's middle, covering breakfast plus either an indoor pool or kitchen-equipped space. Pricier Hacienda Jurica buys gardens, family activities and historic character. AC Hotel is much pricier for modern rooms opposite Antea, not automatically more space or included breakfast; that premium is harder to justify for a quick business overnight. Typical rates with Axel here run from $83 a night at Staybridge Suites Queretaro by IHG to $267 at AC Hotel Queretaro Antea (last 30 days).
