Mill Avenue combines ASU's campus, cafés and restaurant patios with access to Tempe Town Lake. Light rail and the streetcar make this one of the Valley's more practical places to stay without driving every day. The ASU Art Museum adds a worthwhile cultural stop, and the lake gives families space beyond the restaurant streets.

Do not book solely on Mill's old party-strip reputation. Recent reporting describes substantial restaurant turnover and a move toward more grown-up dining; recent locals also report quieter stretches. That does not erase event crowds or student-oriented bars, but it makes nonstop nightlife a poor assumption. Skip it for either secluded quiet or Scottsdale-style clubbing.
