Axel's take: 8.8/10

Old-world character, excellent dining and warm service make this a strong Delhi base. a historic five-star hotel in leafy Lutyens’ New Delhi, scored for what it is.

The Claridges is a historic five-star in Lutyens’ New Delhi—not Delhi Cantonment—and a strong pick for travelers who prefer character to glass-tower glamour. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, thorough housekeeping and generous breakfasts. Recent Expedia reviews also describe refurbished rooms as spacious and comfortable. The gardens, outdoor pool and varied restaurants give it appeal beyond simply having somewhere comfortable to sleep.

The reservations are mostly about consistency rather than the basics: some guests report front-desk friction, expensive dining or noise. A June 2026 review specifically mentions construction noise in or beside the hotel; whether that work continues is unconfirmed, so light sleepers should check directly and request a quiet room. We'd choose it for classic surroundings and personal hospitality, but skip it if guaranteed silence or sleek, uniformly modern design matters most.

• Best for: travelers who enjoy historic hotels; couples combining sightseeing and dining; business travelers seeking a central base

• Watch out for: confirm construction status and request a quiet room; on-site dining can be expensive; occasional front-desk inconsistencies

• Location: On Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road in Lutyens’ New Delhi, convenient for Khan Market—not Delhi Cantonment.

• Rooms: Recent guests praise refurbished, spacious rooms; choose the room category carefully.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong housekeeping feedback across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff are a major strength, with occasional reception complaints.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, gardens, spa, fitness facilities and a broad choice of restaurants and bars.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast depends on the booking; airport transfers cost extra, while Expedia lists free parking.
