Axel's take: 8.1/10
A strong convention-center base, with friendly staff and noise worth planning around. a practical 3-star downtown hotel beside the convention center, scored for what it is.
Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown is a practical 3-star hotel whose biggest advantage is location: the convention center and performing arts venues are a short walk away. We'd pick it for an event-focused stay rather than a hotel-centered getaway. Booking.com and recent Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Included breakfast adds useful value, and king rooms offer a sofa area for spreading out.
The trade-offs are expensive paid parking and noise. Tripadvisor and Reddit guests describe light-rail bells, street noise and overhead aircraft; light sleepers should request a room away from the rail line, without expecting silence. Some guests also find the building dated, although recent cleanliness feedback is predominantly positive. There's a gym but no pool. We'd skip it if quiet surroundings or extensive leisure facilities matter more than downtown convenience.
