Britania is a historic 4-star boutique hotel that gets the important things unusually right. Its 35 rooms retain restored period furniture and marble bathrooms, while recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise generous space, spotless housekeeping and genuinely helpful staff. Just off Avenida da Liberdade, it makes a quieter sightseeing base without sacrificing easy metro access. We'd pick it for character and attentive service rather than contemporary design; afternoon tea and complimentary port add to its appeal.
