The Reef 28 is an upscale, adults-only all-suite hotel in Playa del Carmen—not Cancún—and we'd choose it for a sociable downtown break rather than secluded five-star luxury. Fifth Avenue and the public beach are close, while the rooftop pool gives the hotel its personality. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean suites and genuinely attentive staff. The hotel announced its rooftop pool renovation complete in June 2026.
The trade-offs are noise, competition for rooftop loungers, and an all-inclusive offering that needs careful checking: guests report dinner reservations, menu supplements and paid cabanas, while food feedback is mixed.
