Radisson hotels rated: 6.0/10 for how they treat paying guests

Our take: We'd shortlist Radisson outside the Choice-owned Americas business for dependable stays, not generous booking protection.[1][2][Axel data] It suits travelers willing to join free and book direct for member prices.[3][4] The main catch is that prepaid terms lock you in, while ordinary OTA bookings lose points, elite credit and benefits unless an express exception applies.[2][5]

Few quoted fees, no blanket fee-free promise

Radisson's sale terms say estimated totals include estimated taxes and fees, including resort fees, but exclude additional applicable hotel service charges or fees.[6] We could not confirm consistent inclusion of mandatory fees in the first displayed price.[6] Choice's September 2023 Colorado fee settlement should not be attributed to this group: the respondent was Choice Hotels, which owns the separate Americas business.[7][8]

Axel's suppliers quoted 1,623 rates at 22 hotels from September 26 to October 25, 2026, excluding the Philippines and Indonesia.[Axel data] None carried a property-imposed mandatory fee, excluding taxes. This is a small sample, and its fee share is a floor rather than a ceiling because suppliers sometimes omit hotel fees.

Property examples show why zero does not mean fee-free: Radisson Blu Resort Maldives excludes a 10% service charge on its family package, while Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait includes 15% on its tennis offer.[9][10] These are offer-specific terms, not a chain-wide service-charge schedule.[9][10]

Parking also needs a separate budget: examples include EUR 12 per night at Prize by Radisson Munich Airport and EUR 37 at Radisson RED Vienna.[11][12] Do not assume airport parking is included just because the hotel serves drivers.[11]

Choose flexibility, not just a cheaper rate

Radisson delegates cancellation deadlines to the hotel's reservation terms rather than setting a universal flexible-rate deadline.[13] Its general Prepaid Rate requires full payment at booking and prohibits refunds, cancellations, amendments and adjustments.[2] A no-show costs at least one night's room charge and tax, with greater liability possible under the booked terms.[13]

Only 48% of the same rates across 22 hotels were refundable.[Axel data] Among refundable rates, 44% allowed free cancellation less than 24 hours before check-in, 44% required 24 to 72 hours, and 11% required at least 72 hours. We would choose the cancellation terms before choosing the lowest price.[2]

To capture a later price drop, choose a refundable rate and cancel and rebook before its deadline.[13] We could not confirm a promise to reduce an unchanged existing booking's price, and prepaid terms expressly prohibit adjustments.[13][2]

The still-published manual best-rate guarantee advertises a lower-rate match plus 25%, with claims due within 24 hours of booking and at least 48 hours before midnight on the arrival date, hotel-local time.[14][15] However, Radisson announced on July 3, 2026 that automated booking-time matching replaces that manual guarantee.[16] Because the pages conflict, we would not book a non-refundable rate expecting the extra 25% or protection against later price drops.[14][16][2]

Book elsewhere, lose loyalty benefits

Radisson Rewards is free to join, and its direct-channel member rate advertises up to 15% off the Best Available Rate.[3][4] Availability and savings vary by hotel and night, so this is not a guaranteed 15% advantage over an online travel agency.[4] Radisson also markets app-only prices and offers, making the app another comparison worth checking.[17]

Ordinary OTA bookings lose points, elite-night or stay credit, and member benefits under the October 6, 2026 terms, unless Radisson expressly designates an exception.[5] This includes status-based hotel benefits, not just points earning.[5] The current FAQ contradicts itself about elite credit and benefits on third-party stays, so we would budget on the stricter contractual terms.[5][3]

Join for discounts, spend points cautiously

Radisson Rewards has Club, Premium and VIP tiers; within the applicable 12-month qualification period, Premium requires five eligible nights or three stays, while VIP requires 30 nights or 20 stays.[3] Ordinary hotel awards follow cash prices rather than a published category chart.[18] We would join for cash discounts rather than build a large points balance, particularly because Radisson reserves the right to change points values without notice, subject to law.[4][18][5]

Independent point valuations differ: Forbes reports approximately 0.2 US cents per point, while One Mile at a Time lists 0.3 cents.[19][20] Premium and VIP members can activate Discount Booster for up to 20% off eligible direct bookings, but ordinary earning falls to 9 and 12 points per US dollar respectively.[3] Do not assume that discount stacks with the standard member rate.[3]

Points expire after 24 months without earning or redemption under the October 6, 2026 terms.[5] Those terms explicitly say transfers do not reset expiry, although the FAQ says transferring points extends validity.[5][3] We would use earning or redemption, not a transfer alone, to protect a balance.[5]

Premium and VIP upgrades depend on arrival-day availability, and suite upgrades are restricted to selected properties and categories.[3] Elite early check-in and late checkout also depend on availability and extend the hotel's published times by two hours.[5] VIP breakfast covers the member and one registered guest at selected properties, with long-stay exclusions and an Asia-Pacific buffet-only rule.[5]

Bring the payment card and budget holds

Radisson's sale terms require photo identification and a credit card for incidentals, with the booking guest named as the cardholder.[6] If the original payment card is not presented, the terms say prepayment will be returned and another payment method required.[6] Hotel-dependent preauthorizations remain held during the stay and can take up to five days after departure to be released.[13]

Published examples include a EUR 50 nightly security deposit at Radisson Blu Cork and full-fare charging for early departure on The May Fair's five-night Stay Longer offer.[21][22] These are property- or rate-specific conditions, so confirm both the incidental hold and early-departure liability before paying.[13][21][22]

The Radisson brand advertises free Wi-Fi, but that is not a group-wide guarantee covering every brand or premium internet tier.[23] Pet travelers should add the pet tariff before comparing prices: art'otel lists GBP 25 per dog per night in the UK and EUR 25 in the Netherlands.[24]

Dependable rooms, less convincing value

Radisson distinguishes its operated hotels from franchised properties run by owners and their managers, so the brand does not identify a single operator.[25] Across 84 hotels Axel has reviewed in October 2026, the average was 8.34 out of 10, 82% scored at least eight and none scored below seven.[Axel data] These ratings judge each hotel against its class and price, rather than rewarding luxury alone.

Radisson Blu averaged 8.29 across 38 reviewed hotels, Park Inn by Radisson 8.27 across 13, and Radisson 8.31 across 10.[Axel data] Park Plaza averaged 8.43 across six hotels, promising but too small a group to declare it a worldwide winner. We would treat these brands as dependable shortlists, then check the individual property's recent reviews and terms.[25]

Which?'s UK Radisson Blu result was 67% from 126 reported experiences, with four stars for the main stay-quality measures but two for value; the survey was conducted in June and July 2025.[26] Austria's ÖGVS 2026 table ranked the broadly labelled Radisson Hotels first for satisfaction and customer service in its comfort-hotel category, without separating brands.[27] These results support confidence in the stay more than a claim that every Radisson offers good value.[26][27]

• Radisson Blu (Solid): A dependable upper-upscale shortlist: 38 reviewed hotels averaged 8.29, with none below seven.[28][Axel data] UK survey results were stronger for room and service quality than value.[26]
• Park Inn by Radisson (Our pick): Our pick for travelers seeking midscale or upper-midscale accommodation with dependable class-adjusted performance: 13 reviewed hotels averaged 8.27, with none below seven.[29][Axel data]
• Radisson (Solid): Ten reviewed hotels averaged 8.31, with none below seven.[Axel data] Expect an upscale brand spanning urban, airport, resort and serviced-apartment formats, not one standardized hotel type.[30]

• Before booking, compare the final direct member price with app offers and third-party prices rather than treating the advertised member discount as an automatic saving.[6][4][17]
• Before booking through an OTA, price in the loss of points, elite credit and member benefits unless an express Radisson exception applies.[5]
• Before booking a festive resort stay, check compulsory dinners: Radisson Blu Resort Maldives advertises a December 31, 2026 supplement of USD 750++ per adult.[39]
• Before check-in, bring the payment card in the booking guest's name and allow room for the hotel's incidental hold.[6][13]

Questions about Radisson Hotel Group

Is this the same Radisson business as in the Americas?

No: Choice acquired Radisson Hotels Americas in August 2022 and integrated its loyalty program into Choice Privileges in July 2023.[1][40] The continuing Radisson Rewards program is separate, although its October 2026 terms explicitly include Brazil alongside Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.[5][40]

Do I earn points or get elite benefits through Booking.com?

Ordinary OTA bookings are excluded from points, elite-night or stay credit, and member benefits under the October 6, 2026 terms, unless an expressly designated exception applies.[5] The FAQ contains contradictory guidance, so do not rely on benefits being honored.[3]

Can I cancel a Radisson prepaid booking?

The general Prepaid Rate takes full payment at booking and prohibits cancellation, refunds and changes.[2] A separate Plan & Save promotion at specified Park Plaza and art'otel hotels in the UK and Netherlands, excluding Park Plaza Cardiff, allows cancellation or changes within the first 24 hours after booking directly on Radissonhotels.com.[31]

Will Radisson refund the difference if the price drops?

A refundable reservation leaves the practical option of cancelling and rebooking before its deadline, but we could not confirm automatic repricing of an existing booking.[13] Manual guarantee pages still advertise a qualifying lower-rate match plus 25%, while Radisson's July 2026 announcement says automated booking-time matching replaces that guarantee, so the additional remedy remains unclear.[14][16]

How much are Radisson Rewards points worth?

Forbes reports approximately 0.2 US cents per point, while One Mile at a Time values them at 0.3 cents.[19][20] Neither is a guaranteed conversion rate, and ordinary award prices vary with cash prices.[18][19][20]

Are points bookings fee-free and easy to cancel?

Not necessarily: current terms permit additional property fees on Points-Only Rate reservations when communicated at booking.[5] Those rates default to cancellation with points returned up to seven days before arrival unless the booking terms say otherwise.[5] Separately defined Award Nights follow the property's cancellation, guarantee and deposit policies.[5]
