Axel's take: 7.7/10

Warm service and extensive facilities make up for rooms that show their age. a large, established 4-star casino and convention hotel in Lahug, scored for what it is.

Waterfront is a large, established 4-star casino and convention hotel in Lahug, best chosen for its facilities and helpful staff rather than contemporary rooms. It's a good pick for an event here or a city stay near IT Park. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming service, comfortable accommodation and breakfast buffet. Multiple restaurants, an outdoor pool and a gym give you plenty on site.

The trade-off is age: dated bedrooms and tired pool surroundings recur across reviews, alongside occasional maintenance problems and slow check-in. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, but not uniformly so. The hotel now advertises a New Premier Room category; confirm exactly which room you're booking rather than assuming everything has been refreshed. Expect a security deposit and check children's breakfast charges. We'd skip it if modern interiors and consistently polished four-star upkeep matter most.

• Best for: conference and concert attendees; casino visitors; city travelers who prioritize facilities

• Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven maintenance; occasional slow check-in; security deposit and children's breakfast charges

• Location: Lahug location near IT Park and within reach of Ayala Center; this is a city hotel, not a beachfront resort.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and reasonably spacious, but many look dated; a New Premier Room category is advertised.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised in recent reviews, with some exceptions involving carpets and room upkeep.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; check-in and problem resolution can be uneven.

• Amenities: Casino, convention facilities, multiple restaurants, outdoor and children's pools, and a gym; pool surroundings show wear.

• Fees and surprises: Security deposit required; breakfast inclusion varies, children may cost extra, and airport transfers carry a charge.
