#6 of 9 hotels in Sea Point & Bantry Bay by Axel's take. Sea Point & Bantry Bay is #4 of 8 places to stay in Cape Town. The best hotels in Sea Point & Bantry Bay, ranked · Where to stay in Cape Town

Axel's take: 8.1/10

Generous suites and welcoming staff, but noise and uneven upkeep temper the appeal. an independent 4-star all-suite hotel in Sea Point, scored for what it is.

The Hyde is an independent 4-star all-suite hotel in Sea Point, strongest on space, friendly service and proximity to the promenade. We'd pick it for a longer Cape Town stay rather than a polished luxury escape. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, breakfasts and roomy living areas. Most suite categories have kitchenettes, making this a practical base for travelers who want more independence.

The trade-offs are recurring noise complaints and uneven room maintenance, with some guests also reporting housekeeping misses. Request a room away from restaurant activity and the lift. An August 2026 guest reported the rooftop pool and deck closed for refurbishment; later feedback praises the rooftop area, but reopening wasn't independently confirmed. Check pool access before committing. We'd skip it if reliable quiet, immaculate finishes or guaranteed pool time are essential.

  • Best for: Couples wanting extra living space; Longer stays with kitchenette convenience; Travelers exploring Sea Point

  • Watch out for: Restaurant and lift-area noise; Uneven maintenance and housekeeping; Confirm rooftop pool availability

  • Location: Near the Sea Point promenade and neighborhood restaurants, rather than directly at the V&A Waterfront.

  • Rooms: Spacious living areas; most categories have kitchenettes, but Superior Suites do not.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings, with some recent reports of inadequately cleaned floors and bathrooms.

  • Service: Welcoming staff are a consistent strength; problem handling is less dependable.

  • Amenities: Rooftop pool and dining, gym and free parking; confirm pool access after reported refurbishment.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the booking; airport transfers cost extra.
