#7 of 7 hotels in Gardens & Tamboerskloof by Axel's take. Gardens & Tamboerskloof is #1 of 8 places to stay in Cape Town. The best hotels in Gardens & Tamboerskloof, ranked · Where to stay in Cape Town

Axel's take: 8.3/10

Comfortable rooms and standout hospitality, but ongoing building work makes quiet stays less certain. A boutique-style 4-star city hotel in Tamboerskloof, scored for what it is.

The Cape Milner is a boutique-style 4-star in Tamboerskloof, a short walk from Kloof Street’s restaurants. It’s a strong city base: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms, welcoming staff and an especially good breakfast. The outdoor pool and Glass Lounge add appeal beyond the basics, and some rooms have Table Mountain views.

The catch is the three-level extension currently under construction. The hotel now expects completion by late November 2026, with finishing work through December; reception will temporarily move and parts of the frontage will be screened. Guest experiences during the works vary, so don’t assume an undisturbed stay. We’d choose it for sightseeing and business trips, but skip it for a quiet daytime retreat until the work is confirmed finished. This is a city hotel, not a beachfront property.

Best for: Sightseers who spend their days out; Business travelers; Couples wanting nearby restaurants
Watch out for: Extension works continuing into December 2026; Temporary reception relocation; Breakfast and parking may cost extra
Location: Near Kloof Street dining and central sights; beaches and the Waterfront require a separate trip.
Rooms: Guests consistently praise spacious rooms and comfortable beds; mountain views depend on the room.
Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia feedback.
Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise across several review sites.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, fitness facility, free Wi-Fi, restaurant and Glass Lounge; the hotel says facilities remain open during construction.
Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion and parking charges; the official construction schedule extends beyond some booking sites’ October end date.
