#1 of 9 hotels in Sea Point & Bantry Bay by Axel's take. Sea Point & Bantry Bay is #4 of 8 places to stay in Cape Town. The best hotels in Sea Point & Bantry Bay, ranked · Where to stay in Cape Town

Axel's take: 9.4/10

Exceptional personal service and Atlantic views make this a standout small luxury hotel. an intimate, ultra-luxury house hotel above Bantry Bay, scored for what it is.

Ellerman House is an intimate, ultra-luxury house hotel above Bantry Bay, and a strong pick for travelers who prefer personal attention to big-hotel bustle. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the warm staff, excellent food and private-home atmosphere. The South African art collection, wine experiences and ocean-facing gardens give it substance beyond the setting; included breakfast, airport transfers, laundry and pantry access make the hospitality feel generous.

Choose your room carefully: interiors vary, and the Classic House Room has no ocean view. This is a hillside base for driving into town, not a beachfront resort or walk-everywhere city hotel. The main house welcomes guests aged 12 and older; younger families should consider the villas. A March 2025 guest reported disruptive neighboring construction, but its current status is unverified—ask before booking.

  • Best for: couples seeking quiet luxury; South African art and wine enthusiasts; travelers who prize personalized service

  • Watch out for: Classic House Room has no ocean view; main house restricted to ages 12 and older; confirm status of previously reported neighboring construction

  • Location: Elevated Bantry Bay setting with Atlantic views; city sights and the Waterfront are a drive away.

  • Rooms: Individually styled interiors; Deluxe House Rooms have ocean-facing terraces, while the Classic has no sea view.

  • Cleanliness: An especially strong signal, with top cleanliness marks on Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia.

  • Service: Recent guests consistently praise thoughtful, personal attention and capable concierge support.

  • Amenities: Ocean-view pool, spa, gym, art collection, wine experiences and a complimentary guest pantry.

  • Fees and surprises: Many extras are included, but do not assume all-inclusive dining; confirm meal, wine and cancellation terms.
