Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong family all-inclusive where the beach and staff outshine the dated interiors. a lively, mid-range beachfront all-inclusive for families, scored for what it is.

Sunscape Cancun is a mid-range, family-focused beachfront all-inclusive in the Hotel Zone, now under Hyatt. It's a strong pick for families who want plenty to do without luxury expectations. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the friendly staff, cleanliness and food choices, while Tripadvisor reviewers particularly appreciate the beach and children's activities. Pools, splash parks and kids' and teens' clubs make it easy to keep everyone occupied.

The compromise is polish and peace: rooms and public areas show their age, poolside entertainment can be loud, and shaded loungers attract early towel reservations. We'd choose it for an active family holiday rather than a quiet couples' escape. All-inclusive also has limits: Hyatt says room-service deliveries, spa treatments and airport transfers cost extra.

  • Best for: families with younger children; value-minded all-inclusive travelers; beach lovers who enjoy organized activities

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and public areas; lively entertainment and limited shaded loungers; room-service delivery and airport-transfer charges

  • Location: Directly on the beach in Cancun's central Hotel Zone.

  • Rooms: Comfortable and generally well cleaned, but dated finishes recur in guest feedback.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

  • Service: Friendly, attentive staff are the clearest recurring highlight.

  • Amenities: Pools, splash parks, children's and teens' clubs, dining options, gym and spa.

  • Fees and surprises: Room-service delivery, spa treatments and transfers cost extra; a card hold may apply.
