Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong beach-and-pool escape, but check what your package actually includes. a modern five-star, adults-only beachfront all-inclusive, scored for what it is.

Ocean Allure is a modern five-star, adults-only all-inclusive in Costa Mujeres, and we'd shortlist it for a beach holiday with plenty to do. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the clean, spacious rooms, attractive grounds and friendly staff. The lazy river, bowling and sports facilities give it more variety than a resort built solely around sun loungers. Recent feedback is largely enthusiastic about the food, too.

The main catch is the two-tier experience: rooftop infinity pools and certain dining benefits belong to the paid Privilege category, not the standard all-inclusive package. Earlier guests reported uneven room finishing and service follow-through; later reviews are more reassuring, though we'd stop short of calling it flawless luxury. It's a strong pick for couples and adult friends staying mostly on-site; skip it if you want Cancún nightlife on your doorstep.

• Best for: couples wanting beach time and activities; adult friends who enjoy pools and sports; travelers happy staying mostly on-site

• Watch out for: Privilege-only pools and dining benefits; some uneven finishing and service reports; removed from Cancún's nightlife

• Location: Beachfront in Costa Mujeres, north of Cancún; better for resort time than independent city exploring.

• Rooms: Spacious, modern suites draw strong praise; early reviews flagged unfinished details.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest reviews, supported by high Booking.com and Expedia cleanliness scores.

• Service: Friendly restaurant and bar teams earn repeated praise; butler service and follow-through have been less consistent.

• Amenities: Lazy river, wave pool, bowling, courts, gym and spa; rooftop infinity pools are reserved for Privilege guests.

• Fees and surprises: Privilege is a paid upgrade, and spa treatments cost extra; confirm inclusions before booking.
