Axel's take: 8.5/10

Come for the calm beach and warm service, not cutting-edge luxury. a traditional five-star beachfront resort in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, scored for what it is.

This traditional five-star beachfront resort is a strong pick if swimming and relaxed beach days matter more than flashy design. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the broad sandy beach, generally calm water, friendly staff and comfortable beds. Cleanliness scores are strong across booking sites, too. We'd choose it for a quieter Cancun holiday with restaurants nearby rather than an all-inclusive resort experience.

The trade-off is uneven polish. IHG labels the property renovated, but recent guests still describe some rooms as dated or basic, alongside praise for refreshed ones. On-site food and drinks can feel expensive, and service occasionally falls short of luxury expectations. Confirm your exact room category and balcony before booking. We'd skip it if you want uniformly contemporary rooms or everything included.

  • Best for: families prioritizing calm-water swimming; couples seeking relaxed beach days; travelers who prefer dining beyond the resort

  • Watch out for: uneven room condition; food and drinks are not all-inclusive; confirm balcony inclusion

  • Location: Beachfront at KM 7.5, with restaurants nearby and access to Hotel Zone nightlife.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise; room condition and outlook vary, so choose the category carefully.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in aggregate ratings and recent guest feedback.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff dominate feedback, with occasional lapses in consistency and problem handling.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pools, hot tubs, IKAL spa, gym and three restaurants support a beach-focused stay.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary; cabanas and pets incur charges, and meal inclusions depend on the booking.
