Axel's take: 8.4/10

Comfortable rooms and strong service make this a smart base for drivers. an independent, full-service 4-star in southeast Calgary, scored for what it is.

Hotel Blackfoot is an independent, full-service 4-star in southeast Calgary, and we'd choose it for a comfortable, practical stay rather than a downtown address. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spotless rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff; Booking.com's strong cleanliness and comfort ratings reinforce that picture. Free parking, on-site dining and The Laugh Shop comedy club give it an edge for business trips or an easy evening in.

The trade-offs are worth knowing. Its commercial surroundings suit drivers better than travelers wanting sightseeing on foot. The outdoor pool is closed for renovations; Expedia currently lists the closure through November 30, 2026, subject to change. A couple of recent Tripadvisor guests also report rooms that stayed too warm. We'd skip it if swimming or a walkable downtown location is central to the trip.

• Best for: business travelers in southeast Calgary; couples attending the comedy club; travelers with a car

• Watch out for: outdoor pool closed for renovations; car-oriented commercial location; some recent room-cooling complaints

• Location: Practical for southeast Calgary and Chinook Centre; less suited to exploring downtown on foot.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and well-kept rooms earn strong praise; recent temperature-control complaints warrant checking the cooling.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com.

• Service: Recent reviews repeatedly describe friendly, helpful staff and efficient check-in.

• Amenities: Restaurants, sports bar, comedy club and 24-hour gym; outdoor pool currently closed.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and Wi-Fi are free; breakfast inclusion varies, pets cost extra, and Booking.com lists resort and destination charges.
