Axel's take: 8.2/10

Historic character and helpful staff outweigh some uneven room maintenance. a historic 4-star boutique hotel in San Telmo, scored for what it is.

Patios de San Telmo is a historic 4-star boutique hotel whose restored courtyards and art give it more personality than a standard city hotel. It’s a strong pick for exploring San Telmo’s market, tango venues and cafés on foot. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise the helpful reception team, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms. We’d choose it for neighborhood character and good value rather than polished luxury.

The main compromise is uneven upkeep: recent guests on multiple sites mention ineffective air conditioning, while some bathrooms are tight. Breakfast earns mixed reactions. The small rooftop pool needs checking before booking: a September 2026 Tripadvisor guest reported it closed outside summer, despite its prominent advertising. We’d skip it if reliable cooling or guaranteed pool access is central to your stay.

• Best for: couples exploring San Telmo; travelers who enjoy historic buildings; value-minded boutique-hotel stays

• Watch out for: recurring air-conditioning complaints; some compact bathrooms; pool opening dates need confirmation

• Location: Walkable to San Telmo Market, restaurants and tango venues, with subway access nearby.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive surroundings; bathroom sizes and maintenance vary.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Service: Helpful reception staff are a recurring strength, especially for local advice.

• Amenities: Courtyards, library, free Wi-Fi and a small rooftop pool; confirm pool availability.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; no on-site parking, though paid parking is available nearby.
