Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong Palermo Soho base, with standout staff and modest leisure facilities. a small 4-star boutique hotel in lively Palermo Soho, scored for what it is.

Nuss is a small 4-star boutique hotel near Plaza Serrano, best chosen for Palermo Soho’s restaurants, shops and nightlife rather than big-hotel facilities. We think it’s a strong neighborhood base: Tripadvisor, Booking.com and recent Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, comfortable rooms and cleanliness. The rooftop terrace adds somewhere to unwind between outings, and breakfast is included.

The trade-offs are mostly about expectations. The rooftop pool is a small plunge pool, not somewhere to swim laps, and breakfast earns plenty of praise but has a limited hot-food selection. Some guests report nighttime noise despite the soundproofing; request a rear-facing room if sleep matters more than street views. We’d skip it for a resort-style stay or guaranteed quiet, but shortlist it for exploring Palermo on foot.

• Best for: couples exploring Palermo Soho; restaurant and nightlife lovers; travelers who prefer small hotels

• Watch out for: nighttime noise in some rooms; small rooftop plunge pool; limited hot breakfast selection

• Location: Near Plaza Serrano, with restaurants and shopping close by; the subway is roughly 14 minutes away on foot.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and well reviewed; rear-facing rooms are worth requesting for quieter nights.

• Cleanliness: Strong ratings across major sites, supported by mostly positive recent guest reports.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are the most consistent highlight across sources.

• Amenities: Breakfast, Wi-Fi, rooftop terrace, small plunge pool, gym and sauna; not a full-service resort.

• Fees and surprises: No onsite parking; transfers cost extra. The supplied Marriott website belongs to a different hotel.
