Axel's take: 8.1/10

Generous lofts and a central address, with noise and upkeep compromises. a mid-range loft-style aparthotel in central Buenos Aires, scored for what it is.

HTL 9 de Julio is a mid-range loft-style aparthotel whose strongest selling points are space and location, not polished facilities. We'd choose it for a sightseeing trip where room to spread out matters. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the large, high-ceilinged rooms and helpful staff, while recent Agoda reviews also highlight how comfortably some units accommodate groups. Kitchenettes and optional breakfast delivered to your room add convenience.

The trade-offs are traffic noise, uneven maintenance and the loft layout. Recent guests across sites mention worn fittings, and avenue-facing windows do not always keep the noise out. Internal stairs make many units awkward for limited mobility or very young children; groups should confirm the exact beds rather than rely on maximum occupancy. We'd skip it for guaranteed quiet or a consistently polished hotel experience.

• Best for: couples wanting extra space; small groups confirming bedding ahead; sightseers using public transport

• Watch out for: traffic noise in avenue-facing rooms; internal loft stairs; uneven room maintenance

• Location: Central Monserrat address beside Avenida 9 de Julio, with Lima and Moreno subway stations nearby.

• Rooms: Spacious split-level lofts with kitchenettes; condition and group bedding arrangements vary.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall ratings, though some recent guests report inconsistent cleaning.

• Service: Helpful reception staff are a recurring strength across Booking.com and Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, 24-hour reception and optional in-room breakfast.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; Expedia lists no on-site parking and a 10 a.m. checkout.
