Axel's take: 7.7/10

Choose Duomi for roomy downtown comfort, not polished four-star extras. a traditional downtown 4-star with a practical mid-range feel, scored for what it is.

Duomi is a traditional downtown 4-star that makes more sense as a comfortable sightseeing base than a hotel to splurge on. Its strongest selling point is space: the hotel lists standard doubles at 30 square meters, and guests repeatedly praise generous rooms, comfortable beds and cleanliness. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews also credit helpful staff. We'd consider it a good-value option for exploring Corrientes Avenue, Congreso and the city center.

The trade-off is polish. Breakfast draws both praise and requests for more variety, while some guests describe facilities that need updating; the gym is a particular weak point in recent feedback. Parking costs extra, and restaurant hours warrant checking rather than assuming dinner is available. We'd skip it if you want contemporary luxury, dependable workout facilities or a lively doorstep after dark.

• Best for: families wanting larger rooms; downtown sightseeing; value-minded travelers

• Watch out for: mixed breakfast feedback; underwhelming gym; paid parking

• Location: Handy for Corrientes, Congreso and subway stations; some guests find the immediate streets deserted at night.

• Rooms: Generous layouts and comfortable beds are recurring strengths; some furnishings and facilities need updating.

• Cleanliness: A consistent positive across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Generally friendly and helpful, with occasional reports of less attentive service.

• Amenities: Restaurant, sauna, gym and free Wi-Fi are advertised; check restaurant hours and temper gym expectations.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged separately; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
