Axel's take: 8.4/10

A well-located base with generous rooms and friendly staff, but uneven upkeep. a simple, studio-style 4-star on the Recoleta–Retiro border, scored for what it is.

BENS Recoleta Park is a simple, studio-style 4-star whose appeal is space and location rather than upscale facilities. We'd pick it for sightseeing: cafés, shops and central attractions are within walking distance, and Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, spacious rooms and cleanliness. Breakfast is included, making this a practical, good-value city base.

The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Recent Expedia reviews mention dated bathrooms and rooms needing repairs, although many guests remain happy with their comfort. Breakfast earns mixed verdicts, and the hotel's claim of fully equipped kitchenettes needs caution: guests on several sites report missing cookware and tableware. Ask what your room actually contains before planning to cook. We'd skip it if you want polished four-star surroundings or dependable self-catering.

• Best for: sightseers who explore on foot; couples wanting extra room; value-focused city breaks

• Watch out for: uneven room and bathroom upkeep; kitchenettes may lack utensils and cookware; occasional waits to be buzzed into the lobby

• Location: Walkable Recoleta–Retiro border location, convenient for cafés, Teatro Colón and Recoleta sights.

• Rooms: Generous studio-style rooms; comfort is generally praised, but condition varies.

• Cleanliness: Mostly strong feedback across sites, including recent guests; maintenance is the clearer weakness.

• Service: Helpful reception staff earn consistent praise; locked-door entry can occasionally mean waiting.

• Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; confirm kitchenette equipment before arrival.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a breakage deposit and city tax; airport transfers and early or late check-in/out cost extra.
