#9 of 9 hotels in Terézváros & Andrássy Avenue by Axel's take. Terézváros & Andrássy Avenue is #2 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in Terézváros & Andrássy Avenue, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A good-value Budapest base, provided you can live with tiny rooms and thin walls. a no-frills 2-star near Oktogon, formerly easyHotel, scored for what it is.

TL Hotel Budapest is a no-frills 2-star near Oktogon, now independent rather than part of easyHotel. It's a strong pick for a short sightseeing trip: you're close to metro and tram connections, cafés and restaurants, without paying for facilities you'll barely use. Booking.com, Expedia and Trip.com guests broadly agree on the strengths: helpful reception staff, generally clean rooms and good value for the location.

The compromise is space. Rooms and shower rooms are genuinely compact, and recent Expedia guests repeatedly mention hearing neighbours and corridor activity. Some guests also find the interiors tired, though cleanliness feedback remains mostly positive. Expedia lists housekeeping and breakfast as paid extras, so check your booking's inclusions. We'd choose it for somewhere practical to sleep and shower, but skip it for light sleepers or anyone wanting room to spread out.

  • Best for: solo travelers on a budget; short sightseeing breaks; couples traveling light

  • Watch out for: very small rooms and bathrooms; limited sound insulation; housekeeping may cost extra

  • Location: Near Oktogon's metro and tram connections, with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby.

  • Rooms: Compact and functional; comfortable beds earn praise, but space and sound insulation are limited.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, with occasional lapses rather than a consistent pattern.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly reception staff are a recurring strength across booking sites.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, lift and 24-hour reception; breakfast is available for an extra charge.

  • Fees and surprises: No longer an easyHotel; Expedia lists paid housekeeping, offsite parking and a 10 a.m. checkout.
