#7 of 9 hotels in Terézváros & Andrássy Avenue by Axel's take. Terézváros & Andrássy Avenue is #2 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in Terézváros & Andrássy Avenue, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest

Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong-value sightseeing base, with helpful staff and rooms worth choosing carefully. a no-frills 3-star near Oktogon in central Budapest, scored for what it is.

Medos is a no-frills 3-star near Oktogon, and a strong pick for travelers who would rather spend their time exploring Budapest than hanging around the hotel. Restaurants, cafés, metro and trams are close by. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia guests broadly agree on its strengths: helpful staff, generally clean rooms and a breakfast buffet that earns considerably more praise than criticism.

The trade-off is the accommodation itself: room categories vary, some guests find standard rooms small, and recent feedback suggests parts could use refreshing. A few Tripadvisor guests flag housekeeping lapses, though these do not outweigh the wider positive picture. Check the exact room category rather than assuming every room has a balcony or view. We'd choose it for a practical city break, but skip it for polished interiors or a hotel-centered holiday.

Best for: value-minded city breakers; sightseers using public transport; families choosing larger room categories
Watch out for: room size and outlook vary by category; some rooms need refreshing; limited paid parking
Location: Near Oktogon metro and trams, with restaurants and cafés close by.
Rooms: Check category and dimensions: recent guests describe both spacious rooms and compact standard twins.
Cleanliness: Mostly positive across sites, with some recent Tripadvisor reports of housekeeping lapses.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength; reception operates around the clock.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast and luggage storage; superior doubles include air-conditioning, a fridge and tea-making facilities.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; garage parking is limited and paid, while transfers, pets and late checkout carry charges.
