#8 of 8 hotels in City Park & Heroes' Square by Axel's take. City Park & Heroes' Square is #8 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in City Park & Heroes' Square, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest

Axel's take: 7.4/10

A characterful budget base near City Park, but room choice matters. a budget hostel with dorms and private rooms beside City Park, scored for what it is.

Baroque is a budget hostel, not a conventional two-star hotel: expect quirky interiors, shared kitchens and bathrooms, plus dorms and basic private rooms. It’s a good-value base for City Park, Heroes’ Square and Széchenyi Baths rather than Budapest’s downtown nightlife. Booking.com, Trip.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while the communal spaces give it more personality than a bare-bones crash pad.

The trade-off is inconsistent comfort. Recent reviews mention stuffy rooms, noise carrying from communal areas and uneven bathroom upkeep; Hostelworld feedback is noticeably less enthusiastic about cleanliness than Expedia’s. Some economy rooms have no window, so check the exact category carefully. We’d pick it for a short, inexpensive sightseeing stay, but skip it if quiet sleep, reliable room ventilation or consistently spotless shared facilities are priorities.

  • Best for: budget-minded solo travelers; City Park and thermal-bath visits; travelers who use shared kitchens

  • Watch out for: windowless economy room options; noise and uneven ventilation; inconsistent shared-bathroom upkeep

  • Location: Beside City Park, with Heroes’ Square and metro access nearby; downtown sightseeing requires a longer walk or transit.

  • Rooms: Basic dorms and private rooms vary considerably; check windows, bathroom arrangements and proximity to communal areas.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive on Booking.com and Expedia, but recent Hostelworld guests report repeated cleaning shortcomings.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest recurring strength; reception is advertised as operating around the clock.

  • Amenities: Shared kitchens, lounges, garden seating, free Wi-Fi and coworking space; Expedia lists no lift.

  • Fees and surprises: Hostelworld lists taxes as excluded; airport transfers and pets carry extra charges according to Expedia.
