#6 of 9 hotels in Belváros & Váci Street by Axel's take. Belváros & Váci Street is #4 of 8 places to stay in Budapest. The best hotels in Belváros & Váci Street, ranked · Where to stay in Budapest
Axel's take: 8.8/10
A strong central luxury choice, with occasional service lapses rather than flawless polish. A historic 5-star luxury hotel on central Budapest’s Elizabeth Square, scored for what it is.
Al Habtoor Palace is a traditional 5-star in the historic Adria Palace, with a location that makes Budapest unusually easy to explore. Formerly the Ritz-Carlton, it changed brands in January 2025. We’d shortlist it for spacious, comfortable rooms, strong cleanliness and generally attentive staff: Booking.com and Expedia guests reinforce those strengths. The glass-roofed indoor pool and spa are welcome extras after sightseeing, rather than reasons to build an entire stay around the hotel.
The main reservation is consistency at luxury-hotel expectations. Several recent Tripadvisor guests describe slow or disorganized breakfast service, although praise for staff remains much more common overall. Expedia guests also flag the compact wellness facilities. Choose it for classic comfort and walkable sightseeing; we’d look elsewhere if a large spa or reliably seamless dining service matters most.
-

-
