Axel's take: 7.0/10

Choose it for central sightseeing and spacious suites, not four-star polish. An older, centrally located 4-star suite hotel with uneven room standards, scored for what it is.

Bucharest Comfort Suites is an older 4-star suite hotel whose strongest selling points are space and location, rather than polish. We'd consider it for a sightseeing break: University Square and the metro are close, and Old Town is walkable. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the roomy accommodation and helpful staff, with enough positive cleanliness feedback to make this a reasonable, practical choice.

The catch is consistency. Although the official website describes renovated suites, recent guests still report dated rooms, worn fittings and occasional bathroom or air-conditioning problems. Boulevard traffic and illuminated advertising outside some windows can disrupt sleep or spoil the view. Breakfast generally sounds adequate rather than memorable. Confirm the exact room and sleeping arrangements before booking; several Expedia guests describe unexpected extra-bed charges. We'd skip it if quiet nights and dependable four-star standards matter more than space and location.

• Best for: Sightseers prioritizing a central location; Travelers wanting more room to spread out; Value-minded guests comfortable with older interiors

• Watch out for: Uneven room condition and maintenance; Traffic noise and illuminated advertising; Extra-bed charges and unclear sleeping arrangements

• Location: Close to University Square, metro and airport-bus connections; Old Town is an easy walk.

• Rooms: Generously sized, but renovated and older-looking rooms receive notably different feedback.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, though some guests describe dust and incomplete housekeeping.

• Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise; complaint handling receives more mixed reports.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and breakfast are available; breakfast feedback is mostly modest.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm extra-bed costs, breakfast inclusion and parking arrangements; airport transfers cost extra.
