Axel's take: 8.6/10
A strong central base with comfortable rooms, but choose your outlook carefully. A modern 4-star city-centre hotel in a historic printworks, scored for what it is.
Clayton Hotel Bristol City is a modern 4-star in the historic Everards printworks, and we'd pick it for a comfortable, walkable Bristol break. The heritage exterior gives way to contemporary chain-hotel interiors rather than boutique character. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, clean rooms and the central location; breakfast also earns plenty of compliments. A restaurant, bar and fitness suite cover the practical extras.
The main catches are room outlook and arrival logistics. Some rooms face the internal lobby, so request an exterior-facing room if daylight matters. Tripadvisor guests also flag occasional uneven restaurant service and busy breakfasts, although staff feedback overall remains positive. There's no on-site parking, and vehicles cannot reach the entrance directly. We'd skip it if doorstep car access or intimate, individually styled surroundings are priorities.
