Axel's take: 8.4/10
A strong adventure base with friendly staff, sociable spaces and some older-building compromises. A renovated, outdoors-themed mid-range hotel near I-90, scored for what it is.
Field & Stream is a renovated, outdoors-themed mid-range hotel, not a secluded wilderness lodge or a full luxury stay. It's a strong pick for exploring Bozeman by car, with more personality than a standard highway hotel. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful staff. The indoor pool, outdoor hot tub and courtyard fire pits give families and hiking companions reasons to linger after a day outside.
The makeover hasn't erased every older-building compromise: guests mention cramped bathrooms, dim room lighting and road noise, so light sleepers should request a Backyard-facing room. Downtown is a drive rather than right outside the door. The official site also lists a nightly amenity fee covering parking, despite booking sites advertising free parking. We'd skip it for a quiet wilderness escape or polished four-star luxury.
