Axel's take

a redesigned 4-star boutique hotel near Boston Common

8.5/10

A stylish downtown base with strong service, but fees take the shine off.

Hotel AKA Boston Common is a redesigned 4-star boutique hotel, formerly Kimpton Nine Zero, and a strong pick for exploring Boston without a car. Its refresh, unveiled in 2025, gives the rooms and public spaces a cleaner, contemporary look. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and welcoming staff; Booking.com guests echo those strengths. The location near Boston Common, the Freedom Trail and Park Street station is the biggest draw.

The trade-offs are more practical than cosmetic: a nightly destination fee, paid valet parking and breakfast that generally costs extra. Some recent guests mention noise from neighboring rooms or outside, while room-size feedback varies by category. We'd choose it for a sightseeing weekend or downtown work trip, but skip it if you want extensive leisure facilities or an extras-included stay.

Pay with your own payment credential when you have one; otherwise share the checkout link so the traveler signs in with the email code and pays. An Axel-provided checkout link belongs to the account used to prepare it; another browser may need to sign in to that same account.
