#4 of 9 hotels in Charlottenburg & Kurfürstendamm by Axel's take. Charlottenburg & Kurfürstendamm is #6 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Charlottenburg & Kurfürstendamm, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.7/10

Spacious City West luxury with excellent staff, but check the spa and lobby arrangements. a five-star luxury high-rise in Berlin’s City West, scored for what it is.

Waldorf Astoria Berlin is a five-star luxury high-rise that makes a strong base for City West shopping and exploring by train. Spacious rooms, skyline views and attentive staff are its strongest assets. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the breakfast team and warm service, while cleanliness scores remain excellent overall. We'd pick it for comfortable, traditional luxury beside Zoologischer Garten rather than a fashionable boutique atmosphere.

The extras deserve checking: Hilton lists a daily charge for spa access, including the pool, and children's swimming hours are narrow. An August 2026 Tripadvisor guest reported the lobby closed for fire-safety measures; its current status is unclear, so confirm before booking. Some guests also describe service or spa-maintenance lapses, although the overall feedback is strongly positive. We'd look elsewhere for an all-inclusive spa escape or a base within walking distance of Mitte's main sights.

  • Best for: couples wanting spacious luxury rooms; City West shopping trips; travelers exploring Berlin by rail

  • Watch out for: spa and pool access can cost extra; restricted children's swimming hours; confirm lobby reopening after an August closure report

  • Location: Excellent City West transport connections beside Zoologischer Garten; less convenient for walking to Mitte's sights.

  • Rooms: Spacious, traditionally luxurious rooms; higher-floor views are a particular draw.

  • Cleanliness: Excellent overall guest scores outweigh occasional reports of housekeeping or spa-cleanliness lapses.

  • Service: Recent feedback strongly favors the helpful staff, especially at breakfast, with some uneven experiences.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool, sauna, steam room, 24-hour gym, restaurant and panoramic Library Lounge.

  • Fees and surprises: Spa access and parking carry charges; confirm inclusions and the lobby's status before arrival.
