#5 of 9 hotels in Kreuzberg by Axel's take. Kreuzberg is #7 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Kreuzberg, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A well-located budget base, better for sightseeing than a ready-made social scene. A budget hostel in a former convent near Potsdamer Platz, scored for what it is.

Three Little Pigs is a budget hostel in a former convent, with dorms and private rooms rather than hotel-style comforts. It’s a strong pick for inexpensive sightseeing: Anhalter Bahnhof is close, major sights are walkable, and the large lounge and courtyard give you space beyond your bed. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean, spacious rooms; recent Hostelworld reviews broadly support that picture.

The trade-offs are practical. Many rooms share corridor bathrooms, and guests report occasional bathroom-cleaning lapses and noise from groups or hallways. Breakfast costs extra and repeatedly draws poor-value comments. Despite the bar and communal space, some travelers find the atmosphere subdued rather than sociable. We’d choose it for a straightforward city break, but skip it if you need reliable quiet, dorm privacy or an instantly social backpacker crowd.

  • Best for: Budget-minded sightseers; Friends and organized groups; Travelers wanting simple private rooms

  • Watch out for: Group and corridor noise; Shared bathrooms in many room categories; Breakfast can feel poor value

  • Location: Close to Anhalter Bahnhof, with Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Simple dorms and private rooms; check whether your category includes an ensuite bathroom.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive across major sites, with some recent reports of bathroom-cleaning lapses.

  • Service: Staff are widely praised as helpful; the official site confirms round-the-clock reception.

  • Amenities: Large communal hall, courtyard, bar, free Wi-Fi, lockers, bike rental and self-service laundry.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and laundry cost extra; bring a dorm padlock and check whether towels are included.
