Axel's take: 8.9/10

A polished sightseeing base with standout staff, though the spa is less impressive. a five-star luxury hotel at Potsdamer Platz, scored for what it is.

The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is a five-star luxury hotel at Potsdamer Platz, pairing Art Deco-inspired interiors with a practical sightseeing location. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want spacious rooms and attentive service rather than boutique intimacy. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and breakfast; Tripadvisor feedback also highlights thoughtful staff. The Curtain Club adds a good reason to spend an evening downstairs.

The main compromise is the wellness area: several Tripadvisor guests describe a small, rather cool pool, so we wouldn’t choose it for a spa-focused break. Occasional maintenance and service lapses appear, but don’t outweigh the broadly excellent feedback. Check breakfast inclusion and expect parking charges. Choose it for a comfortable, well-connected city stay; skip it if a substantial pool is essential.

  • Best for: luxury sightseeing breaks; couples who enjoy hotel bars; travelers prioritizing spacious rooms

  • Watch out for: small pool that some guests find cool; occasional maintenance and service lapses; breakfast inclusion varies; parking costs extra

  • Location: Potsdamer Platz transport is close, with Tiergarten and major central sights within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Spacious Art Deco-inspired rooms; comfort earns strong praise, with occasional reports of wear.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guest feedback.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff are a recurring highlight, despite occasional lapses.

  • Amenities: Curtain Club, POTS restaurant, a 24-hour gym, sauna, steam room and compact indoor pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Paid parking and a pet fee apply; confirm whether breakfast is included in your booking.
