#2 of 9 hotels in Hauptbahnhof & Moabit by Axel's take. Hauptbahnhof & Moabit is #10 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Hauptbahnhof & Moabit, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong station-side choice with comfortable rooms and a standout breakfast. an upscale business-and-spa hotel beside Berlin Hauptbahnhof, scored for what it is.

Steigenberger Am Kanzleramt is an upscale business-and-spa hotel that makes arriving by train unusually easy. We'd pick it for comfortable rooms, convenient transport and a breakfast buffet that earns enthusiastic praise across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor. Recent guests consistently highlight cleanliness and helpful staff, while the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate are within walking distance. The sauna-and-fitness spa adds substance beyond the business-hotel basics.

The trade-offs are worth knowing: several recent guests report weak air-conditioning, although others say it works well. Glass bathroom panels and doors also draw repeated privacy complaints, particularly from people sharing with relatives or friends. We'd choose it for convenience and comfort rather than an intimate boutique atmosphere; skip it if bathroom privacy is essential, and check whether breakfast is included before booking.

Best for: travelers arriving by train; business trips; sightseers who prioritize transport
Watch out for: glass bathroom panels limit privacy; some recent reports of weak air-conditioning; breakfast and parking can cost extra
Location: Beside Hauptbahnhof, with excellent transport connections and walkable access to the government district.
Rooms: Generously sized entry-level rooms; comfortable beds are praised, but bathroom privacy deserves checking.
Cleanliness: Strong ratings across Booking.com and Expedia, reinforced by recent guest praise.
Service: Mostly friendly and helpful, with occasional reports of slow responses to room problems.
Amenities: Breakfast buffet, bar, gym and sauna-and-steam spa; the sauna area is textile-free.
Fees and surprises: Parking is charged; breakfast inclusion varies, and pets incur an additional fee.
