Axel's take: 7.8/10

A convenient sightseeing base, but the views outshine the four-star polish. a large, practical 4-star high-rise on Alexanderplatz, scored for what it is.

This large 4-star high-rise is a good pick if transport connections and skyline views matter more than boutique character. Alexanderplatz puts trains, trams and major sights within easy reach. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise cleanliness and helpful staff, while recent Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly highlight the breakfast spread. We'd choose a city-view room: the outlook is a stronger selling point than the compact standard rooms themselves.

The trade-offs are worth knowing before booking. Many rooms have glass-partitioned, open-plan bathrooms with limited privacy, and guests repeatedly flag the request-based housekeeping system. Luggage storage and rooftop access carry extra charges, while lifts can get busy. The neighboring 030BLN/Covivio Tower is under construction; ask about exposure before booking. We'd skip it for a quiet, intimate stay or when sharing with someone you'd rather not shower beside.

• Best for: first-time Berlin sightseers; travelers prioritizing public transport; couples wanting skyline views

• Watch out for: limited bathroom privacy in many rooms; housekeeping must be requested; neighboring tower construction

• Location: Excellent transport access on Alexanderplatz, with Museum Island and Hackescher Markt within walking distance.

• Rooms: Standard doubles are compact at 19 square meters; many have open-plan bathrooms, while Junior Suites offer separate bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong guest ratings, though missed or misunderstood housekeeping requests recur in reviews.

• Service: Helpful staff earn frequent praise, but reception and lift waits can make this huge hotel feel impersonal.

• Amenities: Breakfast buffet, restaurant and bar, gym, sauna and a rooftop viewing terrace.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, luggage storage and rooftop access cost extra; neighboring 030BLN construction is ongoing.
