Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong family base for extra space and sightseeing, with breakfast bottlenecks. a practical mid-range all-suite hotel near Potsdamer Platz, scored for what it is.

Novotel Suites is a practical mid-range all-suite hotel that makes a strong case for families visiting Berlin. Its 30-square-meter rooms sleep up to four, with a microwave, mini-fridge and kettle for easy snacks rather than proper cooking. Anhalter Bahnhof is right outside, and Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie are walkable. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the room space, cleanliness and helpful staff. We'd pick it for straightforward comfort and convenience, not boutique character.

The main compromise is breakfast: guests on Expedia and Tripadvisor describe limited seating and queues, even when they like the food. The molded, pod-style bathrooms are functional rather than inviting, and some recent guests mention outside noise. We'd skip it if you want full self-catering facilities, leisurely breakfasts without a crowd, or a hotel with substantial leisure amenities.

• Best for: families sharing one room; first-time Berlin sightseers; travelers wanting extra room space

• Watch out for: breakfast seating shortages and queues; kitchenettes are not full kitchens; some outside noise

• Location: Beside Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn, roughly ten minutes on foot from Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie.

• Rooms: 30-square-meter suites for up to four; useful snack-making facilities and functional pod-style bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Recent reviews are predominantly positive about room cleanliness, with occasional housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Helpful, friendly reception staff are a consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Breakfast buffet, bar, terrace, free Wi-Fi and a small fitness room; prioritize room space over leisure facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; check whether breakfast is included, and don't expect a fully equipped kitchen.
