#7 of 9 hotels in Friedrichshain by Axel's take. Friedrichshain is #8 of 12 places to stay in Berlin. The best hotels in Friedrichshain, ranked · Where to stay in Berlin

Axel's take: 8.3/10

Dependable comfort and generous rooms, but not quite the Alexanderplatz location its name suggests. A comfortable 4-star business hotel beside Volkspark Friedrichshain, scored for what it is.

NH Berlin Alexanderplatz is a comfortable 4-star business hotel in Friedrichshain, rather than directly on Alexanderplatz. It’s a strong pick if you prefer spacious rooms and easy tram connections to being in the middle of the sightseeing crowds. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests broadly agree on the essentials: clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and a well-liked breakfast. The neighboring Volkspark Friedrichshain adds somewhere pleasant to walk between outings.

The main compromise is location: Alexanderplatz is three tram stops away, so expect to use public transport. More importantly for wellness-minded travelers, the hotel currently says its sauna is out of order for maintenance. Breakfast and parking can also add to the bill. We’d choose it for practical comfort, but skip it if doorstep sightseeing or a working sauna is central to your plans.

  • Best for: Sightseers happy using trams; Business travelers; Travelers who prioritize room space

  • Watch out for: Sauna currently closed for maintenance; Not directly on Alexanderplatz; Breakfast and parking may cost extra

  • Location: Beside Volkspark Friedrichshain, with nearby trams and Alexanderplatz three stops away.

  • Rooms: Standard rooms start at a generous 26 square meters, with kettles, refrigerators and air conditioning.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest-review sites, despite occasional individual lapses.

  • Service: Reviews broadly praise helpful, friendly staff rather than suggesting recurring service problems.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, bar, terrace and small 24-hour gym; the official site currently flags the sauna as closed.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; parking and pets carry charges, and the garage has a height restriction.
