Axel's take: 8.6/10

A comfortable, well-connected base with excellent breakfast, but not a doorstep sightseeing location. a large, independent 4-star conference hotel in Moabit, scored for what it is.

MOA Berlin is a large 4-star conference hotel in Moabit, independent of Mercure since January 2026. It's a strong pick for comfortable rooms and good transport connections rather than postcard Berlin outside your window. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and generous breakfast buffet. The supermarket downstairs is genuinely useful, and nearby Birkenstraße U-Bahn makes exploring straightforward.

The trade-off is scale: this is a sprawling business hotel, and some guests find the layout confusing. Most major sights require a ride rather than a short stroll. Housekeeping is on request, a detail that has frustrated several recent guests expecting daily service; arrange cleaning and fresh towels explicitly. We'd choose it for business trips or a practical city break, but skip it if intimate atmosphere and walk-out sightseeing are priorities.

• Best for: conference and business travelers; city-break visitors comfortable using transit; families wanting practical room options

• Watch out for: housekeeping on request; sprawling, sometimes confusing layout; transit needed for most major sights

• Location: Moabit neighborhood base near Birkenstraße U-Bahn, with a supermarket in the building.

• Rooms: Comfortable, air-conditioned rooms; entry-level doubles are more compact than the larger categories.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest feedback, but cleaning and towel changes need to be requested.

• Service: Usually praised as helpful and professional, with occasional reports of brusque reception service.

• Amenities: Generous breakfast buffet, restaurant, bar, included gym, extensive meeting facilities and EV charging.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; breakfast depends on the booking, and pets attract a surcharge.
