Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Schöneberg base with dependable basics, compact rooms and a few extra charges. A simple 3-star superior hotel in Schöneberg, scored for what it is.

This small 3-star superior Mercure is a good pick for exploring Berlin rather than spending much time in your room. Its Schöneberg location puts restaurants, LGBTQ+ nightlife and KaDeWe within walking distance, with Nollendorfplatz and Wittenbergplatz stations nearby. Recent Accor, Expedia and Trip.com guests commonly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. We'd choose it for a straightforward city break, not for a polished hotel experience.

The compromise is the accommodation: standard rooms are compact, and dated furnishings and bathrooms recur in recent feedback. Amenities are modest, centered on breakfast and a lobby grab-and-go station. Don't assume daily housekeeping; management describes cleaning and towel changes as available on request. Luggage storage also carries a charge. We'd skip it if spacious rooms, contemporary interiors or extensive facilities matter most.

• Best for: Short city breaks; LGBTQ+ travelers exploring Schöneberg; Sightseers using public transport

• Watch out for: Compact, somewhat dated rooms; Housekeeping arrangements need checking; Luggage storage costs extra

• Location: Walkable Schöneberg base near restaurants, nightlife, KaDeWe and two useful U-Bahn stations.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and air conditioning, but standard rooms are small and interiors show their age.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across recent reviews; clarify cleaning frequency rather than assuming daily service.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff receive frequent praise, though some guests report brusque interactions.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast and a 24-hour lobby grab-and-go station; no extensive leisure facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast, parking and pets cost extra; management also confirms a luggage-storage charge.
