Axel's take: 8.4/10

Dependable comfort and welcoming staff, but not quite on Alexanderplatz. a large 4-star superior city and conference hotel near Alexanderplatz, scored for what it is.

This large 4-star superior is a strong pick for a comfortable Berlin base rather than a luxury escape. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise the friendly staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms, with the generous breakfast another recurring strength. Nearby trams make sightseeing straightforward, and Volkspark Friedrichshain adds welcome green space. The hotel also offers a top-floor gym, sauna facilities and an inviting bar.

The main catch is the address: expect roughly a 10–15-minute walk to Alexanderplatz, not a doorstep location. Standard rooms can feel compact, and recent guests describe a busy, sometimes noisy breakfast room; some also find hot dishes insufficiently warm. Parking and sauna use cost extra. We'd choose it for a practical city break or business trip, but skip it for intimate boutique atmosphere or immediate access to the square.

• Best for: sightseers comfortable using trams; business and conference travelers; travelers who prioritize breakfast and friendly service

• Watch out for: not directly on Alexanderplatz; compact standard rooms; busy breakfast room

• Location: Near Volkspark Friedrichshain and tram connections; Alexanderplatz is roughly 10–15 minutes away on foot.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and modern furnishings; entry-level rooms can feel small.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings, despite occasional reports of missed details.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are one of the most consistent strengths across guest reviews.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, terrace, top-floor gym and sauna facilities; restaurant dinner service is limited to certain days.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and sauna carry supplements; check breakfast inclusion. The underground garage has no elevator connection.
