Axel's take: 7.6/10

A handy Mitte base, but ongoing renovations make quiet stays a gamble. a compact, budget-minded 3-star at Rosenthaler Platz, scored for what it is.

This budget-minded 3-star is a good pick for exploring Berlin rather than spending much time indoors. Rosenthaler Platz’s U-Bahn and trams are right outside, with plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently favor the location and helpful staff; cleanliness is generally a strength. Compact rooms and comfortable beds cover the basics, while complimentary afternoon and evening coffee, tea and water add value.

The big caveat is ongoing refurbishment: October 2026 guest reviews still report drilling and disruption, despite the official website saying services remain available. Rooms also draw recurring complaints about wear, limited storage and open bathroom layouts with little privacy. Street-facing rooms can catch tram noise and sirens; request a courtyard-facing room. We’d skip it for daytime downtime or a quiet retreat, and confirm the renovation status before booking.

• Best for: budget-conscious city-break travelers; solo sightseers using public transport; couples comfortable with compact rooms

• Watch out for: ongoing refurbishment and daytime drilling; traffic, tram noise and sirens; compact rooms with open bathroom layouts

• Location: Excellent transit access at Rosenthaler Platz, with cafés and restaurants close by.

• Rooms: Compact and functional; limited storage, visible wear and bathroom privacy are recurring trade-offs.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across sites, although some guests report housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff earn consistent praise across platforms.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and communal drinks from noon to 10 p.m.; breakfast and limited garage parking cost extra.

• Fees and surprises: Refurbishment remains active in October 2026; confirm work schedules, room allocation and breakfast arrangements.
